Is our love alive -- 6 O'Clock in the morning You gave no warnin', girl don't you care
Baby love, you can have anyone you want Is that why you appease me? Tantalize and tease me? 'Cause I know many a guy knocks on your door And you always answer Why do I always seem to choose and lose girl
6 O'Clock in the morning And you're still not here baby I can't find you nowhere You gave no warnin' Stayin' out late with somebody Girl don't you care
Baby love, I won't wait till time stands still Cause there's always another Somebody's sister or mother And I know, I'd rather give my time to you But the clock keeps ticking, it's getting late Baby I can't wait

Couple in the next room Bound to win a prize They've been going at it all night long I'm trying to get some sleep But these motel walls are cheap Lincoln Duncan is my name And here's my song, here's my song
My father was a fisherman My mama was a fisherman's friend And I was born in the boredom And the chowder So when I reached my prime I left my home in the Maritimes Headed down the turnpike for New England, sweet New England
Holes is my confidence Holes in the knees of my jeans I was left without a penny in my pocket Oo-we, I was about as destituted As a kid could be And I wished I wore a ring So I could hock it, I'd like to hock it.
Seen a young girl in a parking lot Preaching to a crowd Singing sacred songs and reading From the Bible Well I told her I was lost And she told me all about the Pentecost I seen that girl was the road To my survival
Just later on the very same night She crept to my tent with a flashlight And my long years of innocence ended She took me to the woods Saying here comes something and it feels so good And just like a dog I was befriended I was befriended
Oh, oh, what a night Oh, what a garden of delight Even now that sweet memory lingers I was playing my guitar Lying underneath the stars Just thanking the Lord For my fingers For my fingers

Drowning fishing dropping screaming under the lights I'm feeling everything crashing burning I lost track of time Into you
I'm breathing, I'm breathing I think I'm reading you well I'm bleeding, I'm bleeding I think I'm reading you well
Burning crushing trampoline the edge of the sun I think I fell in love with lightning bolt I'm ready to run Into you
I'm screaming, I'm screaming I think I'm reading you well Believing, believing I think I'm reading you well
Waiting, I'm patient In keeping, I'm wanting more Picking up the loose puzzle pieces scattered around the floor Linking, I'm drifting, just waiting for you to know Following the crumbs that I left for you leading to my door Waiting, I'm patient In keeping, I'm wanting more Picking up the loose puzzle pieces scattered around the floor Linking, I'm drifting, just waiting for you to know Following the crumbs that I left for you leading to my door
I think I'm reading, I think I'm reading you well I think I'm screaming, I think I'm reading you well I'm breathing, I'm breathing, I think I'm reading you well I think I'm reading you WELLLL

Greasy Love Songs is a posthumous release of the 1968 album, Cruising With Ruben & the Jets.
In the mid-80s, when Zappa regained control of his original masters, he had Arthur Barrow and Chad Wackerman dub new bass and drum parts. He told the fans that the tapes had degraded to the point that this was necessary. (He did the same for We're Only in it for the Money.)
Frank might have had other reasons, as well (possibly a lawsuit filed against him by those early band members?) ... in any case, you can hear the original bass and drums quite clearly on this restoration.
Leave Me Alone (1989) MJ, vocals Larry Williams, drum programming, synths Paul Jackson, Jr., guitar Casey Young, Synclavier Greg Phillinganes, synth (4:38)
Aaow
Hoo-hoo
I don't care what you talkin' bout, baby I don't care what you say Don't you come walkin' beggin' back mama I don't care anyway
Time after time I gave you all of my money No excuses to make Ain't no mountain that I can't climb, baby All is going my way
Cuz there's a time when you're right And you know you must fight Who's laughing, baby? Don't you know And there's the choice that we make And this choice you will take Who's laughin', baby?
So just leave me alone (Leave me alone, leave me alone) Leave me alone (Leave me alone, leave me alone, leave me alone) Leave me alone Stop it Just stop doggin' me around
There was a time I used to say, "Girl, I need you" But who is sorry now? You really hurt, you used to take and deceive me Now who is sorry now? You got a way of making me feel so sorry I found out right away Don't you come walkin' beggin' I ain't lovin' you Don't you get in my way
Cuz there's a time when you're right And you know you must fight Who's laughing, baby? Don't you know And there's the choice that we make And this choice you will take Who's laughin', baby? So just leave me alone (Leave me alone, leave me alone) Leave me alone (Leave me alone, leave me alone, leave me alone) Leave me alone Stop it Just stop doggin' me around

After 43 years, Paul decided to give it another go ...
Red is from '75; blue is from '18 ...
Some folks' lives roll easy as a breeze Drifting through the summer night Heading for a sunny day But most folks' lives Oh, they stumble Lord, they fall Through no fault of their own Most folks never catch their stars
And here I am, Lord I'm knocking at your place of business I know I ain't got no business here But you said if I ever got so low I was busted You could be trusted
Some folks' lives roll easy Some folks' lives Never roll at all Some folks' lives Gaze out from a window to a wall The sunlight written in a scrawl The gift that God intended for us all But some folks' lives
Only a Northern Song (1969) Paul, bass, trumpet, sound effects John, guitar, glockenspiel, piano, sound effects George, vocal, organ, sound effects Ringo, drums (3:24)
George wrote it for Sgt. Pepper, but John and Paul decided it was "too weak," so we got Within You Without You instead ...
Northern Songs Ltd. had managed the Beatles' copyrights since 1963, when the stock was divided among Dick James, Charles Silver, Brian Epstein, John and Paul.
George and Ringo were left out until the company went public in '65 -- they received 1% of the shares.
The song subliminally denounces the exploitation. The out-of-tune haziness is brilliant.
