dcccxxix. ZAPPA, Frank: Stuff Up the Cracks

dcccxxix. ZAPPA, Frank (1940-1993)

Stuff Up the Cracks (2010)
FZ, guitar, vocals
Ray Collins, vocals
Roy Estrada, bass, vocals
Jimmy Carl Black and/or Art Tripp, drums
Ian Underwood or Don Preston, piano
Motorhead Sherwood, baritone saxophone, tambourine
Bunk Gardner and Ian Underwood, alto and tenor saxophones
(4:34)

Greasy Love Songs is a posthumous release of the 1968 album, Cruising With Ruben & the Jets.

In the mid-80s, when Zappa regained control of his original masters, he had Arthur Barrow and Chad Wackerman dub new bass and drum parts. He told the fans that the tapes had degraded to the point that this was necessary. (He did the same for We're Only in it for the Money.)

Frank might have had other reasons, as well (possibly a lawsuit filed against him by those early band members?) ... in any case, you can hear the original bass and drums quite clearly on this restoration.
