A John masterpiece -- with two interesting covers ...

Pete Shotton recalls watching John writing feverishly: Semolina pilchard climbing up the Eiffel Tower . . . then, turning to him with a smile, he quipped, Let the fuckers work that one out, Pete!

Remember, we're still talking four-track recording in those days! When the Beatles part had been mixed down, Martin had to manually sync the strings and voices from another four-track tape from another tape recorder. That's why there are some spots where you can hear a slight gap between the orchestra and rhythm track.
