During the 80's, VH-1 had this song on heavy rotation.

I was immediately intrigued by five things:

  1. The disco-like bass line with the repeated 1/8-notes;
  2. The high piano chords which are tinkled with the sound of the glockenspiel;
  3. The flat-VI and flat-VII movement to the tonic (Db/Eb/F) or even better (Db/Eb/Cm);
  4. The way the melody floats above the bass (example: "into the night" -- two dotted-quarters, followed a quarter and a whole note!); and
  5. The video. It's very cool.
