"Havin' Some Fun is a tune written in the style of the great Count Basie Orchestra. The ability to play relaxed and stay on top of the beat is the formula that makes this all work. Notice that there are no staccato notes in this one but, rather, 'fat' accented notes that have a good deal of weight and impact. Here is a great example of big band piano playing demonstrated so beautifully by Russ Ferrante. He plays around the band figures, never stepping on what the horns are playing." -- BM
