cdlxxxiv. YES: Then

cdlxxxiv. YES

Then (1970)
Jon Anderson, vocals, percussion
Peter Banks, guitars, vocals
Chris Squire, bass, vocals
Tony Kaye, keyboards
Bil Bruford, drums, percussion
Royal College of Music students, brass, strings
(5:52)

With their second album, Yes imitated The Moody Blues, The Nice, and other bands that were using classical musicians to add a sophisticated flavor to their prog-rock sound ...

Peter Banks was not a happy camper (a lot of his parts were taken over by the orchestra) and was soon fired and replaced by Steve Howe.

People were paying attention to this band -- Pete Townshend was an early fan.

An Anderson composition ...
  • Bruford's drumming
  • Squire and Kaye
  • the tempo change before the last verse

**

And in a time that's closer
Life will be even older -- Then.
Souls will be complicated
Life will be consummated -- Then.
Hearts will be brought together
Soon in our minds forever -- Then.

As long as we see
There's only us who can change it
Only us to rearrange it
At the the start of a new kind of day

Love is the only answer
Hate is the root of cancer -- Then.
Truth is just for the being
And is the sight for seeing -- Then.
Thoughts will be thought together
Soon in our minds forever -- Then.

As long as we see
There's only us who can change it
Only us to rearrange it
At the the start of a new kind of day

And in a time that's closer
Life willl be even bolder -- Then.
Love is the only answer
Hate is the root of cancer -- Then.
Thoughts will be thought together
Soon in our minds forever -- Then.
