cclxi. CHICAGO: In The Country

cclxi. CHICAGO

In The Country (1970)
Peter Cetera, bass, vocals
Terry Kath, guitars, vocals
Robert Lamm, keyboards, vocals
Lee Loughnane, trumpet, vocals
James Pankow, trombone
Walter Parazaider, woodwinds
Danny Seraphine, drums, percussion
(6:35)

The three "non-Classical" albums on heavy rotation my senior year in high school (IAA):
  1. Frank Zappa: Hot Rats
  2. The Beatles: Abbey Road
  3. This one
**

The intensity (and balance) of horns and rock band was something pretty new back then.

This Kath tune hits the mark for how it combines it all into a great sound. At 5:30, the horns blare out a really funky, soulful riff, immediately followed by an outstanding simple guitar riff.
