The original Pound is a clever little tune in 7/8. Zappa sped up the woodwinds to achieve the Munchkin effect.

The solos, from the first Palladium show on October 28, 1978 (not October 31, 1979, as Zappa mistakenly labeled the track in the accompanying booklet), show how the band went off from a written composition to solos. [The actual Pound composition is not heard.]
