from The Thing That Knowledge Can't Eat
Little Big Billy found a big hit song,
They said:
"That's a little hunk of stone magic"
It been hiding but it been inside 'em
All along
Billy found it and held it
They held it up in the air
Little Big Billy found a song
Gonna tell the world about
The big hit song
They said "It's got me feeling
Something like I never did.
And I'm feeling like I shouldn't
Keep the feeling hid."
They said, "Maybe, just maybe,
In a week or so
If I work on it all the time,
Then it would speak to someone's
Soul and bring an afterglow.
This wonderful song sublime'll
Have a band playin'
Some little sounds like a spring mist
Some bigger sounds like a storm"
And soon they gonna tell the world
About the big hit song
An' there'll be captivation curled
Around the big hit song
People, boys and girls'll know
The big hit song
Fascination twirls around
The big hit song
(BILLY'S BIG HIT SONG:
Everybody clap hands clap hands
Everybody clap hands
Clap 'em
Everybody run around run around
Find a store and go inside and run
Around
Run around clap hands clap hands
Run around
Everybody clap hands
Clap 'em
Everybody ride a goat, ride a goat
Find a store and clap hands
Go inside and ride a goat and
Clap hands)
"The world'll need my big hit song..."
Little Big Billy made a big hit song
Everybody's singin', dancin', all night

dcxxv. CHICAGO
from: Chicago Transit Authority
The first track on the first album.
The actual Chicago Transit Authority sued them and they then became plain "Chicago."
The track title is actually a perfect representation of what these guys are doing: introducing themselves, first with a few lines of lyrics, then the various styles of "rock 'n roll with brass" -- something very novel in 1969 ... of course there was already Blood, Sweat & Tears and later Dreams ...
As of 2022, they're up to Chicago 32 ...

from Wing Beat Fantastic
Keneally/Partridge
Mourners in a pious pile
Swept the streetlights north of him
The morning, fervent, burnt his bite
And sent him reeling towards a skim
Kept so buoyant, long and trim
Bobeau tried and tried and tried
To sail the seam life offered him
An omen from his starboard side
Sent him trawling towards Berlin
A friend had called him to swerve in
Hell o'er me, Hell o'er me
Hell o'er me, Hell o'er me
Fell on me, fell on me, fell on me, fell on me
Seventy seas, seventy songs
Carefully please lead me steadily on
Heavenly bees heavily armed
Everyone please give it up, give it up,
Give it up, give it up
Send through the sea a morning embrace
Soul-blessed to me by love
Through Falkensee, breath baited with grace
Arriving outside Hennigsdorf
Friend of the sailor, depend on the sailor
Alight as one
Light as one
Lady's scent, essential alloys
Kneel beneath the dark's cold blade
Not beheaded
From the dock they run and hide
The sailor and his soul's true mate
Clearly, really so alive
Ceremony called in haste
Wailing mourners all erased
K'velle, ah K'velle, ah K'velle amour
Fair, fond and rare almond-haired Rico Cerro
Seventy seas, seventy songs
Carefully please keep me steady and strong
Enemy flees, ready go on
Everyone please keep it up, keep it up,
Keep it up, keep it up
dcxii. ZAPPA, Frank (1940-1993)
from Absolutely Free
"America Drinks and Goes Home is an unsubtle parody of adult conduct in neighborhood cocktail lounges in America. The humor is aimed at (1) the type of music your parents like to listen to, (2) the manner in which they like to have it performed (the insincerity of the nightclub crooner in his closing address to the alcoholics at the bar), (3) the manner in which the audience persists in talking above the level of the music while it is being performed -- which belies their disrespect for music as an art and for anyone involved in the performance of music." -- FZ
