"How Could I Be Such a Fool is based on a modified nanigo rhythm. We call it a Motown Waltz. It stays in 3/4 time throughout, but shifts in the accents occur from section to section. As an American teen-ager (as an American), this means nothing to you. (I always wondered if I could write a love song.)"
In 1984, when Frank was getting ready to release all his old product (in shiny new boxes: The Old Masters, Vols. 1, 2, and 3), he felt that the original tapes for both We're Only In It For the Money (1968) and this album were so degraded that he called in Barrow and Wackerman to overdub new bass and drum parts.
The purists were outraged -- I say outraged! First of all, the overdubbing was stick-out-your-thumb obvious and somewhat obnoxious.
